Tweedmouth Colts 9 Gala Athletic 015/10/2011
Tweedmouth played hosts to Gala Athletic for the 2nd time and came away victors for the 2nd time, the injury-depleted squad had the perfect blend of youth and experience and thoroughly deserved the win.
The Colts opened the scoring when Mikey Patterson slipped through the Athletic rear guard and netted his first of six goals on the day. A relatively even first half hour saw Patterson net his hat-trick, coolly chipping the keeper in a one-on-one to complete his trio of first half goals. Minutes before half time the opposition winger crossed into the Tweedmouth box, only to see it cleared, playing Patterson through on goal, this time he cut it back to Jordan Clark who rifled the ball into the bottom corner from twenty yards.
Leading by 4 goals going into the second half, Tweedmouth's orders were to play as if they were 4 goals down and this is exactly what they did; scoring 5 in the second forty-five. Patterson completed his double-hat-trick, Clark netted his second with an elegant lob from the edge of the box and a rare screamer, straight out of the top drawer and into the top corner from Tommy Dixon capped the Colts' performance.
The Colts can be happy with this performance but with some big games coming up its important not to get complacent and continue playing football the right way.

Tweedmouth Amateurs 2 Stow 115/10/2011
Tweedmoth played an unbeaten Stow team on saturday and took all three points with a good battling performance, with four of the previous weeks players missing their strength and depth was truely tested. The Amateurs started the stronger and ran the first half creating some good chances, with Bain and Cromarty ruling the middle of the park and Aitchison and Clark making life difficult for the Stow defence it was only going to be a matter of time. Clark got in behind Stow and was upended by their keeper who was lucky to stay on the park. Cromarty took the responsibility and made no mistake from the spot, then came the goal of the season so far, Colqhoun cut in from the left and curled his shot into the top corner from 20 yards.
The second half Stow came back into it and put the homeside under a lot of pressure but they couldnt make it pay off. Stand in keeper Powling didnt put a foot wrong in the home goal, dealing with some difficult situations taking pressure off his back four, but with ten minutes remaining Stow scored from a corner but the home side held on to see the game out.
Considering his age young Bowell had a decent game taking some hefty challenges but didn't get put off.

Tweedmouth Amateurs 1 Linton Hotspur 108/10/2011
Tweedmouth dropped points again but it wasn't just down to poor finishing, the Linton goal keeper had an outstanding game pulling off some really good saves. plus his woodwork saved him on four occasions. The first five minutes it was all Linton but with all their possession they didnt threaten the Tweedmouth goal, after that the homeside were the better team creating chance after chance, but against the run of play a slip from Hall let the centre forward in to put his team ahead.
Richardson in the home goal was a bit unlucky not to keep it out managing to get a hand to it. Straight from the kick off Clark found space behind the Linton defence but his effort hit the post, it started to look like the home side were going to have one of those days until Clark leveled right on half time.
The second half was much the same with the Amateurs taking the game to Linton trying to collect all three points, but with ten minutes to go Richardson had to pull off the save of the match to keep his side in it. Linton hung on for a share of the points and their relief was shown at the final whistle.

Tweedmouth Amateurs 3 Eyemouth 001/10/2011
Tweedmouth progressed through to the semi final of the Wright cup against a strong Eyemouth team. In the first twenty minutes the home side created a few half chances but the visitors were beginning to win the battle in the middle of the field but failed to carve out any opportunities.
A Young cross from the left picked up Colquhoun at the far post who then pulled it back for Aitchison to slot home with his right foot to settle the home side. Bain and Cromarty then took control in the middle of the park spraying the ball left and right with some ease. The second half Tweedmouth again took the game to Eyemouth whos heads dropped a little when Aitchison scored the second with ad rive from 18 yards that flew into the bottom left hand corner.
Tweedmouth were awarded a penalty when a Cromartys shot was tipped over the bar by a defender who then was shown the red card, Robertson made no mistake from the spot. The back four for Tweedmouth dealt well with anything Eyemouth through at them leaving Richardson in goal with little to do. This was a gutsy performance from the Amateurs and need to carry it on into the league next week at home against Linton.

Tweedmouth Colts 3 Lauder 101/10/2011
Tweedmouth Colts continued their fine run of form with a cup game at home to Lauder. The Colts are now in the semi-finals of the Collie Cup.
However, it was Lauder who opened the scoring, when the ball was driven across the six-yard box and Ramsay slid the ball clear, only to see it ricochet off of the opposing centre forward and end up in the back of the net. Neither team was able to take a foothold in the first half and chances were few and far between.
The second half was somewhat a different story; the young Colts were creating allsorts of problems for the visiting defense. When the ball broke to David Brown he made no mistake, finishing on the half volley from the edge of the area. After this there was only going to be one winner; Tweedmouth took the lead when Patterson delivered a precision ball across the six-yard box and Ross Williiamson finished well at the back-post, scoring his first goal for the club and capping a great performance.
The final nail in the coffin came when man mountain John Grieve started the move in his own penalty area, and finished it with a superb, full stretch volley on the opposing penalty spot. The Colts can be happy with this all-round squad performance, showing their flexibility and ability to adapt to the game presented to them. They face Lauder again next week and will try to carry the momentum forward.

Coldstream 4 Tweedmouth Amateurs 424/09/2011
Tweedmouth made the short trip to Coldsteam on Saturday and came away with a point. The home side were the first to score when Tweedmouth failed to clear their lines and Reid crossed for his fellow forward to net, but their lead didn't last long because within 5 minutes Colquhoun levelled with a volley from an acute angle from a Young cross.
Reid, who used to play for Tweedmouth Colts was a thorn in the Tweedmouth side all afternoon. He scored his first of a hat-trick when again the Amateurs were slow to react and gave him plenty of room to pick his spot. Cromarty came on for the ill stricken Moore, and from an Aitchison corner he volleyed into the net at the far post to level things up again.
Coldstream again went ahead when a shot was deflected by Reid leaving Richardson in the visitors goal with no chance. Clark made it 3-3 before the break when he met a Young cross and from 15 yards he powered his header home. The Amateurs had chances in the half to add to their tally, the best falling to Clark with a one on one with the home keeper. He screwed his finish wide when it looked easier to score and Colquhoun volleyed into the ground from 6 yards.
In the second half Tweedmouth got their nose in front when Clark got on the end of an Aitchison corner and with another powerful header found the corner of the net. Again the Amateurs had decent chances which were squandered, then for some reason they sat back and let Coldsteam get at them and it was no surprise when they levelled from a Reid shot from the edge of the box. Tweedmouth were nearly made to pay for all their missed chances when a curling shot from Coldstreams left winger hit the post. The Amateurs will need to raise their game on Saturday in the cup against Eyemouth.
Tweedmouth Colts 6 Peebles Amateurs 124/09/2011
Tweedmouth continued their winning streak at home to Peebles. The home side deserved all three points and Peebles were lucky to end the game without any sendings off.
The Colts opened the scoring with what could possibly be a record fastest goal in the league. A miss hit diagonal ball straight from kick-off was met with a Peebles' head, only to see it go straight over the head of his own keeper; Patterson was yet again in the right place, at the right time to poke home the opening goal. Peebles were agitated by this and never seemed to settle at all. Patterson scored again before Peebles pulled a goal back with a cross come shot which deceived Cain. Peebles looked to be back in the game, but Patterson scored again, with an exquisite flick over the on rushing goalkeeper.
The second half saw Peebles continuing with their over-physical approach but the young Colts managed to weather the storm and prove playing football is the right way to play. Patterson rounded off his performance with 5 goals and Purvis got his first goal for the club when Dave Bugiel hit the post with one of many good runs.

Tweedmouth Amateurs 8 Hawick Utd 017/09/2011
This was a very good result for Tweedmouth and what makes it more impressive is that they had seven of their squad missing through injury and work commitments, proving their strength and depth. The Amateurs were asked to do three things; win, get a clean sheet and to play decent football. From the kick off the home side forced a corner. Aitchison and Clark worked a short corner and from Aitchisons chip Robertson headed home with only twenty seven seconds gone. Next it was Colquhoun who made himself a little space in the 6 yard box and made no mistake finding the bottom right hand corner. From another Aitchison corner, Robertson rose above everyone else and with a powerful header scored his second and his teams third with only eighteen minutes gone.
Tweedmouth took their foot off the gas thinking the game was won but Hawick couldn't take advantage of this and Tweedmouth got to the interval three to the good. In the second half it was all about the next goal and it came within five minutes of the restart with Robertson completing his hattrick.
If Robertson thought the match ball was his Colqhoun had other ideas because he came up with two identical goals, The Hawick defence couldn't handle his pace and he carved them open both times and finished well. taken the tally to six. With no disrespect to Hawick the home side could have been in double figures by this time. Young Blackburn scored his first goal for Tweedmouth with a well placed header from a Clark cross. Robertson rounded off a good afternoons work with his fourth, making it eight for his team with a simple tap in.
The two young lads Blackburn and Bowell had decent games and are coming on well. Matty Moor didnt look out of place either with his first game of the season, but on the whole the whole team played well.

Tweedmouth Colts 9 Hawick Legion Rovers 117/09/2011
The young Colts traveled to Hawick and put in their worst display of the season, yet still managed to come away 9 - 1 winners.
The first 20 minutes of the game was an even affair, the Colts taking the lead through Patterson. Hawick got a deserved equalizer when a needless foul was punished, the Hawick freekick somehow finding its way into the net. The Tweedmouth defense of Cain, Dixon, Cumming and Grieve were solid through out the game, sweeping up when necessary. Two passages of play, the Tweedmouth way, allowed the Colts to go into the break 3 - 1 up, Inglis netting his first goal for the club and Patterson scoring his second.
The second half saw Tweedmouth improve slightly, further goals from Patterson, Brown and a Matthew Clark freekick saw Tweedmouth go into an unassailable lead. The young Colts must learn to stick to their gameplan and better performances this season have seen them come away with nothing. Special mention for Henderson and Inglis, who were the only shining lights for the Colts.

Tweedmouth Colts 2 Earlston Rhymers 110/09/2011
The young Colts hosted Earlston in their first home league game of the 11/12 season and came out on top, deservedly so.
Tweedmouth opened the scoring when Mikey Patterson was first to react to a corner, which the away defense failed to clear, curling the ball into the top corner. Earlston then equalized shortly after through a freak freekick which deceived goalkeeper Cain. Patterson had several good penalty shouts turned down, then, perhaps the softest of the lot was given, but Patterson failed to convert when the away keeper saved down to his right. The Colts then came close to taking the lead again when Jordan Clark hit the bar when Earlston yet again failed to clear from a corner.
The scoreline going into the second half flattered Earlston and Tweedmouth should have been comfortably in the lead. Tweedmouth created numerous chances in the second half but failed to convert until a superb, mazy individual run down the left wing took Josh Gunn into the box, poking the ball past the Rhymers' keeper. Colts' keeper Cain pulled off some sublime saves in the final 10 minutes to keep Tweedmouth in the game.
Tweedmouth must learn to impose themselves more in the second half but can be pleased with their performance, having never beaten Earlston since they were founded.
